Using the techniques of Master printer Bryan Nash Gill, this print was made using oil-based inks on 100% Cotton Fabric. The fabric print is then mounted to a piece of ma (hemp) rice paper for archival stability and rigidity. Finally it's mounted to a piece of foam board and matted before being protected in a crystal clear acrylic sleeve. Is ready to drop into any standard or custom frame.
I produced six total prints of this woodcut before destroying the plate. This is the one I used in the demonstration video on YouTube.
This Eastern red cedar came down in the 2020 spring tornadoes in the Chattanooga area. This particular cut was chosen by the artist for its special features such as the curves and lines and the special birthmark in the center.
The Eastern red cedar is sacred to the Cherokee, was one of the earliest landscape trees used by pioneers, and is the state evergreen tree of Tennessee.
