This original gyotaku octopus is very large and shows incredible detail. The print is wonderfully translucent and had a good to it. That's why you can see a little bit of the pine floor behind it in the photos and even a little bit of myself when I held it up outside.
I printed this with oil based ink on ma (hemp) based rice paper. The prince was then wet mounted to another piece of rice paper using wheat paste in the traditional method. Finally the piece is finished with watercolors. And a bit of India ink.
This print will ship in a large tube. A professional framer will know how to handle this print for framing and/or mounting. This could be framed traditionally behind a mat or the deckled edges could be left exposed.
